Fishing [WIP]

When you fish, every cast becomes a small skill challenge. Cast your rod, wait for a bite, and use the right control at the right time to bring in your catch without snapping the line.

Start Fishing

Cast a normal fishing rod into water. A blue bar appears while you wait for a bite.

Your hotbar is kept safe while you fish. Two controls appear in its place:

  • Reel In: brings the catch closer, but puts more pressure on the line
  • Line Out: gives the catch more room, lowers the pressure, and can help a fish calm down

Your normal hotbar returns when fishing ends.

River and Sea Water

The place where your hook lands decides what you can catch:

  • Water in an ocean or beach area counts as Sea Water
  • Water everywhere else counts as River Water

Try both water types if you want to find every catch.

Catching a Fish

After the splash, use Reel In and Line Out to bring the catch closer without breaking the line. A calm fish is easier to reel in, so give it some room when it fights hard.

The bar at the top of your screen shows:

  • Fish Spirit: Calm, Pulling, or Fighting Hard
  • Distance: how far away the catch is
  • Estimated Weight: how heavy the fish might be
  • Line: how much strength your line has left

Bring the catch close enough before the Line reaches zero. Heavier fish can be harder to catch.

What You Can Catch

River Water and Sea Water have different fish. You can catch familiar fish such as Salmon, Cod, and Pufferfish, as well as special fish such as Brown Trout, Catfish, Atlantic Halibut, and Red Grouper.

You may also pull up trash, including old boots, tin cans, driftwood, bottles, and other lost objects.

Want to see every fish and trash item, where you can catch it, and its chance? Open the Fishing Catch Guide PDF.

Weight and Value

Every catch has its own weight and value. Two fish of the same kind can have different weights and values. The value tells you how much you receive when you sell it.

Use /sell to sell fish and trash. Anything that cannot be sold is returned to you.

Your Fishing Catalog

Use /fishing to open the Fishing Catalog. It shows where each catch can be found, its possible weight and value, how many you have caught, and your heaviest catch.

Your records are saved, so you can come back later and try to beat your best catch.

If Your Inventory Is Full

Your catch goes into your inventory. If there is not enough room, it goes to /overflow. If /overflow is not working, the catch drops beside you.

Stopping Fishing

Reel your hook back in to stop. Fishing also ends if you leave the server, change worlds, or die. Your normal hotbar is then restored.

Commands

  • /fishing - open the Fishing Catalog
  • /sell - open the sell menu
  • /overflow - collect catches that did not fit

FAQ

Why did my line snap?

The line became too weak. Use Line Out when the fish is fighting hard or the line is nearly empty.
